Firefly
The following day I was up at 4:30 to start my long drive down to Delaware. The drive took me a total of 12 hours and that may or may not have been the result of going the wrong way... multiple times. Using a road map is a lot harder than it sounds, especially when you don't have a co-pilot to navigate for you.
When I finally made it the the festival grounds the next challenge was meeting up with the group I had arranged to buy my ticket from. (Yes I drove 12 hours without a guaranteed ticket to the festival) By the time I arrived they had already entered the festival and had assumed I could simply go to their campsite and retrieve the ticket - that was not the case. So i spent the next 4 hours hanging out with a security guard while I attempted to contact the person and get them to bring me the ticket. Don't ask me why it took him so long. Luckily for me the security guard I was waiting with was very friendly and the time I spent with him provided some much appreciated perks. So finally after waiting literally all day to get into the festival I was still able to catch the last hour of festivities. I din't mind though. The friend I made was much more valuable than any of the acts I had missed that day, and I still had the whole weekend ahead of me.
At this point I am sleeping in my car. I wasn't exactly pleased with where I was parked the first night but it would do for now. I did have the option of camping at the festival grounds but who wants to camp alone surrounded by rowdy drunks. I would attempt to make some friends at the festival and make my decision based off of that for the subsequent days. The second night I was able to find a more suitable place to park my car and it was close enough to the grocery store that I was able to bike. The cooler I had bought proved too small to be used realistically so i resorted to getting groceries almost every day, and I made sure to sneak in enough food into the festival each day to avoid buying expensive food. The following three days were filled with stellar music and activities. The Killers were definitely my favourite and Martin Garrix was crazy but even the little bands i'd never heard of did an amazing job. Unfortunately I was never able to make any solid friends so I floated from group to group until I wore out my welcome or they were lost in the crowd, but overall it was an amazing festival, maybe the best yet.
